Alan Mian plays various bass guitars (4/5 string, fretted/fretless, acoustic/electric) and double bass. Alan can be seen playing many genres (Funk, Soul, RnB and Jazz in particular) and as such been fortunate enough to have worked or jammed with many great artists including:- Ian Carr, Tim Whitehead, Julian Joseph, Wynton Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Jim Mullen, Barry Harris, Clifford Jarvis, Lol Coxhill, Mark Mondesir, Pete Lockett, Pete Zeldman, Amit Chatterjee from the Jazz world as well as Soul/Funk legends David Williams, Angelo Starr and The Drifters.
Alan has also played in numerous west end shows including "The Official Tribute To The Blues Brothers" and "The Rocky Horror Show". He has also written columns for Total Guitar magazine.
Alan teaches at The Institute of Contemporary Music (formerly Guitar Institute & Basstech) where he has been a member of the faculty for many years. He is also accepting a limited number of private students
Alan can currently be seen with the following artists:- The Amit Chatterjee Alliance (band led by former Joe Zawinul guitarist), The Counterfeit Stones (worlds premier Rolling Stones tribute band), Damien Flood (great Soul/RnB singer), Ricky Mian Quartet and Holger Skepeneit Trio. He is also bassist/musical director for singer/songwriter Me'sha Bryan.
